Good health is equal to good wealth and a significant part of our lives. It not only refers to our physical state but our mental well-being as well. Its worth is priceless as we owe everything that we are and able to accomplish, to our health.

The proverb states the importance of health over wealth in a person’s life, as the latter can be acquired in a state of contentment only if one’s health is sound and in the right place.

Good health is not a myth.With healthy habits and practices undertaken in favor of the body, leading a robust lifestyle is not rocket science. Consuming diets that are rich in the provision of balanced carbs, vitamins, proteins, and fiber sustain our well-being and keep us fueled for the challenges that come our way, physical and mental.Avoiding the guzzling of fried and junk foods and replacing them with meals less in cholesterol and calorie content are ideal for healthy living.

Living a buoyant life also involves exercising, which is paramount to attaining competent health. An exerting routine followed on a regular basis is certain to prove beneficial in the long run, as it is not only done to cut down fat and build macho-muscles but also to keep fit and free of any ailments.

Exercising also leads to the release of endorphins in our body, which are also known as “feel good” hormones, as they help in relieving stress and enhancing our mood, thereby regulating the flow of blood in our body.

Why mental health is important?

Mental health includes both our emotional as well as social wellbeing. A person may easily be physically fit but it won’t necessarily mean the same in the context of mental health. It is as significant as our bodily health to us. It is only when the mind is at peace, will it be able to function with full focus and concentration. Being the focal point responsible for making decisions, a troubled mind cannot yield the same results, leading to a dull mind and deteriorating health. Stress, tension, peer pressure and other such factors trouble and exhaust the mind to an extent it stops functioning the way it should. Good sleep, laughter, meditation, optimistic thoughts and a friendly work/home atmosphere along with a balanced diet and exercise are sure to keep the mind at peace, resulting in inner satisfaction and a desire to attain greater things in life.

Benefits of health

A healthy mind and body is an investment. Acting on the proverb actually makes one subject to numerous benefits, which include the reduction of medical bills and health insurance; looking fit and feeling splendid with utmost confidence; increased productivity and competence; living a content life with greater vehemence; setting an example and acting as a role model for others. The gains, therefore, are innumerable, opening doors to all things substantial.

A man may have all the riches and luxuries he aspires for, but the key to all of them is health. Unless one is immune enough, all of it is futile. To culminate, health is our greatest wealth. It is our most eminent possession. A person with negligent health cannot enjoy the pleasure of being wealthy. The change, in the end, starts from within. It is only when we will respect our health and initiate steps towards its well-being, will we be able to bring a difference and succeed in our other endeavors.
