Venkaiah Naidu Essay : Venkaiah Naidu’s full name is Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu. He was born on 1st July 1949, Chavatapalem in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, a state of India and is the current Vice-President of India. He is the second Vice-President from Andhra Pradesh, a state of India. In the Modi Cabinet, he has served as the Urban Poverty Alleviation and Minister of Housing, Information, and Broadcasting and Urban Development. From 2002 to 2004, he has also served as the National President of Bhartiya Janta Party and is a prominent leader.

Venkaiah Naidu Education

He completed his schooling from V. R. High School from Nellore itself. He pursued his bachelor’s degree politics and diplomatic science from V. R. College and later on he acquired his bachelor’s degree in law with the specialization in International Law from Andhra University College of Law, Vishakhapatnam. In the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he was a Swayamsevak and during his college days, he joined ABVP. He was then elected as the President of Students Union of Colleges which was affiliated to the Andhra University. In 1972, due to his prominent role in Jai Andhra Movement he Venkaiah Naidu came into the spotlight.

Naidu gained prominence as an excellent public speaker and championed the grounds for the farmers and therefore the development of backward areas, both as a student and a political figure. His political was propelled by his oratory skills and political activism. He was selected twice as an MLA to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Udayagiri Constituency in 1978 and 1983 in Nellore district. He was then one of the most popular leaders of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. He was selected as a member of Rajya Sabha in 1998 from Karnataka at the state and national level after serving in various organizational posts. In 2004 and 2010 from Karnataka he was re-elected twice. Naidu created an endeavor to master Hindi, happening to handle public rallies in northern India, unlike the other politicians. He became the Union Cabinet Minister for the Rural Development, after the NDA victory in the year 1999. He became the cabinet minister in the government headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was known for introducing various schemes such as ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’ during his period.

 

Venkaiah Naidu as Vice President of India

He resigned from his post on 18 October 2004 after the defeat of BJP led NDA in the general elections of 2004 and was succeeded by L. K. Advani. Naidu always remained at the forefront of his party BJP as one of its senior vice presidents and an important campaigner. Naidu demanded special category state status to Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha. Though it was not included in the AP Reorganization Act 2014, the Prime Minister agreed to it.

Naidu is also involved in a social service organization founded by him in Nellore known as the Swarna Bharath Trust. The work of this trust involves running a school for poor, imparts self-employment training programs, orphaned and special needs children etc.He was nominated by the BJP to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan on 29 May 2016 and was elected.

Naidu concurrently served as Minister of Broadcasting and Information on 5 July 2016. After one year he resigned from both the offices as he wanted to take part in the contest of 2017 Vice President Elections. His opponent UPA Candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi received 244 votes and Naidu received 516 votes against him and as a result, Naidu won the election and become India’s 13th Vice President.

When Venkaiah Naidu won the elections the biggest words of his were “Now I am a Non-Party Man”.
