Steps to Facebook Signup
- Visit the Facebook homepage
You must log on to the homepage of Facebook by entering the URL www.facebook.com in the URL bar of your browser. As soon as you are on the website you need to Sign Up.
- Register on Facebook
Now that you have successfully landed on the Facebook website, the very first thing you have to do is sign up to Facebook. To sign up, you must provide your Name, Date of birth, Mobile number or Email address, Gender and a Password to login to the site. Once you have provided all the required information, you should press the button Sign Up to finish up your registration process.
- Verify your email address and mobile number
Facebook is very much concerned about the identity of its users which is why, once you sign up, Facebook sends a verification link to your email address that you rendered while signing up to the social networking site.
You should open up your email and click on the link that Facebook has sent to prove that it is you who is registering and wanting to use Facebook and not somebody else masquerading as you.
If you have provided your mobile number then Facebook will send you verification on your contact number you gave to Facebook while registering. Once you click on the link or enter the verification code, it will redirect you to your Facebook profile and your account will be activated.

Setting up your profile on Facebook
- Adding your profile picture
To add your DP (display picture) for others to identify you, click on your name on the screen. Then you’ll be redirected to another page where you will see an image icon that says “Add photo”. Click on the icon and then upload your picture from your computer. This photograph of yours will let others identify you and accept your friend request.
- Adding cover photo
This is another photo that Facebook asks you to add to your profile. It is just like your profile picture; the only difference is that it is Public which means everyone on Facebook can see it. It is much wide as to your profile picture and here you can add a photo with your friends or family. It usually acts as a banner so you can also add a photo about your work if you want everyone to know about it.
- Update your Work and Education
When you are joining a network you obviously want the population in the network to know about your knowledge and your work. It takes seconds to update your education details for the people out there. Just go to your About section and click on the Work and Education tab. Now you can set your high school, college and work details to your profile.
- Adding friends on Facebook
Now that you have added your DP and updated your profile, it’s time to add the people you know in the real world to your network in the virtual world. Search your friends on Facebook and send them a Friend request to add them to your friend list. Once they accept your request you are ready to communicate with them.
- Privacy setting
Trusting is a precious jewel and you can’t afford to lose this jewel to someone untrustworthy and Facebook has your back here. Facebook gives you the power to control your privacy by deciding whom you wish to share your information with.
They can be your friends, friends of your friends or you can just keep the information to yourselves. You can select particular friends you want to limit or pass to see your Facebook updates and posts.
- Registering a username
Your Facebook profile page is a unique website that showcases your life and activities to the world. Just like any other web page has a unique address your profile page also has a unique address which is your Facebook username
To get your username just click on the downward arrow on the blue horizontal bar and go to Setting, there you’ll see the option to edit your username. Choose your username wisely; it is like having your own website.
